yes
+ I made an amazing dinner last night with one of my mom's best recipes. Chinese-style spare ribs that are so fucking good that I have a visceral physical response to their smell alone. I also sauteed some baby spinach with garlic, ginger & soy which was also YUM.
- I've been trying to save money by cooking more often, but since we have no central air conditioning, cooking in a hot kitchen on a hot day is more than enough to make me want to reach for the takeout menus.

+ I got my toes done for Pride! Hot pink with silver glitter!
- The nail tech was really overzealous with the foot scraper, and now my heels are raw and tender.

+ The tailor down the street from me does some really amazing work! He is super affordable, quick, and (usually) very sweet.
- Last week I brought him a dress I had bought via fatshionista. The bust was a bit too small, so I asked him to take it out a little bit. When I went to pick it up yesterday, he advised me not to get fatter because there wasn't any more room left to take it out. English isn't his first language, so it probably came out blunter than he intended, but I was still annoyed.

+/-? Interesting developments at work that could be really good. But I can't share more than that, so I'm keeping it cryptic.

+ Zoe and I are doing the lazy version of the NYC Dyke March tomorrow! Since we don't want to walk the 40+ blocks (ETA: In 90+ degree weather!), we're going to meet up with the walking at 14th Street so we're marching more like 10 blocks. My raw and tender feet will thank me.
- I still don't know what the hell I'm wearing. My friends are dressing up like superheroes, but I have no superhero costume. I want to incorporate my gold bikini somehow, but I still haven't decided on with what I'll wear it. If only there wasn't marching, I have the perfect stilettos!

+ I've been taking advantage of all the summer sales and getting some super cheap, cute stuff!
- It adds up.

Have you seen this? 101 summer meals in under 10 minutes. Mostly things that don't heat up your whole apartment.

i'm not sure what i'm wearing now either, T. it's supposed to be 91 fucking degrees tomorrow and is also supposed to rain all weekend. wtf? for sure i am not wearing a PVC dress in that heat and humidity. maybe the radical faeries know some sort of incantation to improve the weather because the forecast is made of bullshit.

91??!?

Oh damn, that's terrible! What I really want to do is wear a cute summery dress and be done with it.

yeah i agree. although i don't want to wear leggings or stockings and being out that long will require a more heavy duty chubb-rub remedy than the creams.

We should totally do the Dyke March in our pjs/sweats and crocs, Zoe!

they will melt in response to your hotness!
yeah i'm kind of dreading the heat too!

maybe we need people with large fans to fan us.

how about mesh togas?

how about total nudity? or fig leaves or something?

even better! maybe next year we should do a Garden of Eden theme.

i'm not comfy enough with total nudity due to my varicose veins in a public setting like this one.

no i hear you. outside of nolose, sex parties and my apartment, i rarely appear fully naked.

We could wear glitter on the crocs, too?

I had a pedicure a week ago, and I have been having the same issue--I never realized before how rough my work shoes were on my feet!

I know!

It's really satisfying to see all that dead skin go, but it is useful for something!

I am nursing a very unattractive case of athlete's foot which I obtained from a nail place at the bottom of the street. So, no mani/pedis for me during Pride and possible ever again! It's so gnarly I could cry.

Oh no! That's terrible!

Can you do your own toes at least?

I am afraid of my own toes now! I only go down there with apple cider vinegar soaked cotton balls and then scurry back to the top part of my body. :)

Could you try cooking things that are done "hot and fast" on the cook top instead of being put into the oven? At least that way you get the bulk of the hot work done quickly and can avoid heating up the kitchen unecessarily.

This is true.

But generally, I try and avoid the kitchen, because even things like doing dishes leaves me sweaty.

omfg that reminds me of my mum's recipe for "japanese-style" chicken wings that is to DIE FOR. If you would like the recipe, just say the word. Nothing too complicated and they are so marinated and juicy and DELICIOUS :9

I'm excited about Toronto Pride this weekend! May or may not be a part of the Dyke March, may just watch, not sure yet :) I did snag me a snazzy part of water pistols that have actual belt holsters XD

I took advantage of some summer sales today, yay summer! :D

Please do share! The spare rib recipe also works for chicken wings, which is another variation I enjoy.

I think with a gold bikini that says superhero on it's own! You could draw stars on your belly or wear a cape and call it a day - seriously that gold bikini is super super-hero material!

Well, but it's going to be 91+ degrees, and I don't trust in chub rub creams enough to get me through the day.

So, I can wear the bikini top, but I can't figure out what an equally fabulous bottom would be.
